Walter Bremer

Walter B. Bremer 95 of Grand Island, died Monday – January 8, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Evangelical Free Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Aron Utecht will officiate. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Friday in the Ebenezer Cemetery north of Boelus.

Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. Thursday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.

Mr. Bremer was born November 9, 1911 at Boelus, Nebraska the son of Carl and Anna (Paulman) Bremer.

His wife Edna preceded him in death in 1984.


Survivors include his three children and their spouses, Jerry and Jane Bremer of Grand Island, Della and John Hessel of Grand Island, Mike and Judy Bremer of Cairo and a sister Lily Kohtz of Central City.

Other survivors are grandchildren, Brad and Misty Bremer, Lisa, Timothy and Thomas Hessel, Nichole Bremer, Elizabeth and Jason Brinkman, Sarah and Kevin Selle and great grandchildren Grace Bremer and Gage Brinkman.

Walter grew up on the family farm north of Boelus. He graduated from Boelus High School in 1930. He married Edna Lutz October 10, 1953. In 1957 they bought a farm east of Grand Island in Merrick County. He loved farming, which he enjoyed his entire life. He also worked at the Army Ammunition Plant and retired from New Holland in 1976.

In addition to his wife his parents, a son Carl and four sisters and four brothers, Martha, Clara, Ester, Alma, Louis, Carl, Emil and Edward preceded him in death.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice or the Evangelical Free Church.
