Douglas W. Brockman

Douglas W. Brockman, 72, of Grand Island, died Tuesday September 11, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Grand Island Family Church.  The Reverend Allen Runyon will officiate.  Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Friday with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Douglas was born October 11, 1934 at Burwell, NE the son of Vernon and Orpha (Wiley) Brockman. He was raised on a family farm near Taylor graduating from Loup County High School in 1954.  He served in the United States Army from 1957-1959.  On December 23, 1956 he was united in marriage to Arlene Scherzberg at Burwell.

They lived in the Burwell Taylor area until moving to Grand Island in 1968.  He worked construction and later owned and operated his own trucking business mostly hauling grain.

He is a member of Grand Island Family church.  Douglas enjoyed rebuilding Farmall tractors and most of all enjoyed spending time with family.

Survivors are his wife Arlene, children; Vickie and Jeffrey Hargrave of Frederick, CO, Dennis Brockman of Grand Island, Dale Brockman of Farwell, NE, Douglas C. Brockman of Grand Island and Doyle Brockman and his special friend Angel Hill of Grand Island, brothers and sisters-in-law; Vernon Errol and Carol Brockman of CA and John and Mary Jane Brockman of Kearney, NE.

Other survivors are grandchildren Terrance and his wife Samantha Ruble, Tyler Brockman and his fiancée Leah Williams and Joshua Brockman and great grandchildren Regina, Willow and Lillie.  His parents preceded him in death.
