Delbert B. Chadwick

Delbert B. Chadwick, 81, of Denver, formerly of Grand Island, Nebraska, passed away September 10, 2007.

Funeral Services will be Monday, September 17, 2007 at 2:00P.M. at the All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 South Locust St., Grand Island, Nebraska, with visitation from 9:00A.M. until service time. Burial will be in the Westlawn Cemetery, Grand Island, Nebraska with full military honors.

Delbert was born on October 31, 1925 on a farm between Cairo and Shelton, Nebraska to Myron Franklin Chadwick and Estella Adelaide (Klinginsmith) Chadwick. He grew up on a farm in rural Hall County (Cairo) Nebraska. He attended school through the ninth grade and worked at various jobs. He enlisted in the United States Army during World War II serving his country from 1944 until 1946. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands most of that time.

Delbert met and married the love of his life Mildred I. Krull in Shelton, Washington on July 15, 1944. They were married for 63 years.

After the war, they lived on a farm east of Alda, Nebraska until 1957. They then moved to Denver, Colorado in September of 1957. Delbert was a truck driver in Denver, working for Sears and for Montgomery Ward Department Stores until retiring in December of 1991.

Delbert enjoyed hunting, working on cars, playing various card games and especially family gatherings. He accepted Christ as his personal savior as a young man through the Presbyterian Church. Delbert was a member of the Aurora V.F.W., American Legion, N.R.A., and the Truckers Union.

Survivors in his immediate family include his wife, Mildred I. (Krull) Chadwick; two daughters, Delberta Jones, of Denver and Mildred Loveland of Grand Island, Nebraska; two sisters, Velma Belthazor, of Illinois and Margery Brown, of California; five grandchildren, Lynette Barela, Bradley Jones, Chad Jones, Tony Loveland and Starrla Loveland and thirteen great-grandchildren, Cole, Ashley, Amanda, Brittany, Tristan, Kyla, Seth, Levi and Faith, all of Denver, Colorado; Starrlena, Christopher, David and Billy, all of Grand Island, Nebraska.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Estella "Starr" Chadwick; his parents, Myron Franklin and Estella Adelaide (Klinginsmith) Chadwick; two brothers, Kenneth and Stanley Chadwick and two sisters, Arlene Chadwick and Erma Johnson.

Memorials are suggested to the family or Kaiser Hospice Program.
