Lulu E. Harris

Lulu E. Harris, 93, of Grand Island, died Friday September 7th at Memorial Community Care of Aurora.

Lulu E. HarrisMemorial Services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 18th in the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island.  The Reverend Jay Vetter will officiate.  Private family burial of ashes will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.  All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.

Lulu was born March 4, 1914 at Maywood, NE the daughter of Henry W. and Lulu Anna (McKinley) Berry. She received her education at the Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture at Curtis graduating in 1930.  She was united in marriage to Ivan E. Harris on April 13, 1932.  They lived in North Platte until moving to Grand Island in 1941.  She was employed by the Brown Fruit Company and Hesteds.  For many years she was a caregiver for children and adults.

She was a seventy-five year member of the Methodist Church.  She was involved with Girl Scouts since 1940, Sunday school teacher and church volunteer.  Lulu loved children, family, plants especially flowers, church and its music, travel, fishing, dogs especially those named Frosty, Crumpet and Herbie.  She played piano, enjoyed quilting and cross word puzzles.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children; Carol Aten of North Platte, George L Harris of Grand Island and Linda Harris of Grand Island, a brother Henry W. Berry of St. Paul, Minnesota. and  ten grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband she is preceded in death by her parents, son Wayne Harris, daughter Janet Lopeparo, sister Anna Powers, brother John Berry, grandson Gordon Harris and daughter-in-law Ruth Harris.

Her husband Ivan E. Harris died in 1973.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity United Methodist Church.
