"Dudie" F. Kawata
Dolores “Dudie” F. Kawata, 79, of Grand Island, died Monday,
March 19, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday in the Gollaher Chapel
of Trinity United Methodist Church in Grand Island. Reverend Nancy Lambert will
officiate. Burial will be 3:00 p.m. Friday in the Ord Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths
Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Dudie was born January 31, 1928 at Ord, Nebraska the daughter of Bert and Ida (Dawe)
Hurlbert. She was raised and received her education in Ord. On
December 17, 1943 she was united in marriage to Jiro “Joe” Kawata. They
lived in Ord before moving to Grand
Island in 1954. She was employed in
the family owned Nebraska Engraving
Company, the CAAP for 8 years and worked in the Printing Industry
and as a receptionist in hair styling salons.
Those left to cherish her memory are daughter and son-in-law,
Cathlyn and Ron Christensen of Grand Island, sons and a daughter-in-law,
Jeffrey and Ann Kawata of Broken Bow, James Kawata of Grand Island
and David Kawata of Greeley, Colorado, brother Leonard Hurlbert of
Lincoln, a sister Evelyn Paddock of Ord, NE., ten grandchildren and
six great grandchildren.
Her husband Jiro “Joe” Kawata preceded her
in death on April 18, 1989 and brothers Loyal, Larry, Ray and Dudley
and an infant brother and sister preceded her in death.
