Erwin Mindt
Ronald Erwin Mindt, 57, of Lincoln died Friday, August 17, 2007, at Lincoln.
Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the United
Congregational Church in Grand
Island. The Reverend Lonnie Logan will officiate.
There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral
Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Mindt was born February 28, 1950, at Holdrege, NE, to Erwin and Wanda (Goodwin) Mindt.
Survivors of the immediate family include sisters, Kaye
Mindt Long of Grand Island, Cathy
Mindt of Ogallala and Pamela Mindt of Oregon.
Other survivors include a brother of the heart, Phil
Bruner of Omaha. He also leaves behind his two cats,
Piper and Elliott. His parents and his beloved dogs Luke and
Zach preceded him in death.
Ron graduated from Ogallala High School,
Valedictorian of the Class of ’68. He received his BA
from UNL in 1976 and his MA in 1978. In 2001 he received an
Educational Administration Degree from UNL. He had an endorsement
in Special Education and was currently working on his doctorate.
In the late 1970’s Ron helped open a school for
the deaf in the Philippines. He was a Special
Vocational Needs Counselor at Lincoln Public School from 1975-1979,
a Special Education Resource Instructor at Millard Public School
from 1979-1981, a Work Experience Instructor in Council Bluffs, Iowa
from 1981-1984, an Administrative Assistant: Director of Special
Education and Counselor at Underwood Community Schools, IA, from
1984-1989, Principal K-12 of Newman Grove Public School from 1989-1991,
Transition Coordinator/Special Educator at Seward and Milford Public
Schools from 1991-1994, Director of Special Education at Centennial
Public School from 1991 until present, and Director of Special Education
at Malcolm Public School from 1994 until the present. At the Iowa School for The Deaf, he was currently in
the process of implementing a surrogate parent program for IEP children.
Memorials are suggested to HRC (Human Resource Campaign),
The Humane Society, or The United Congregational Church.
