Troy D. Schultz

Troy D. Schultz, 33, of rural Loup City died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, after battling a terminal illness

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral in Grand Island. The Rev. Martin L. Egging will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Josaphat's Catholic Church in Loup City, with a vigil service at 7.

All Faiths Funeral Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Schultz was born July 25, 1974, at Schuyler to Terry Schultz and Mary (Bosselman) Sahling.

Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Melissa, a son, Trevor Lyn Schultz, and a daughter, Mallery Rose Schultz; father and stepmother, Terry and Holly Schultz of Columbus, mother and stepfather, Mary and Scott Sahling of Worms; a brother, Travis Schultz of Columbus; and a sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and Tom Gardner of Grand Island.

Additional survivors include grandparents, Kenneth and Lois Schultz of Columbus and Maxine Bosselman of Grand Island, and stepgrandparents, Marvin and Wanda Hanson of Schuyler.

His grandfather, Fred Bosselman; cousin Bryan Graves and stepgrandparents, LaMont and Donna Sahling, preceded him in death.

Troy was raised in Schuyler until age 6, then moved to Grand Island. He attended Stolley Park School and Barr Junior High and graduated from Grand Island Senior High with the Class of 1992. Growing up, Troy worked for his father and grandfather Schultz and farmed with his grandfather, Fred Bosselman. He worked in his father's and grandfather's restaurant, Johnny's Steak House in Schuyler and Columbus.

He married Melissa Shotkoski on June 24, 1995. They lived in Worms until moving to the McAlpine Ranch northwest of Loup City in 1998. He ranched and co-founded Scientific Crop Agronomy, Inc. - Pioneer Seeds in 2005.

He was a member of St. Josaphat's Catholic Church and the Sons of the American Legion in Loup City, served on the Loup City Board of Education and coached Little League and flag football in Loup City. The ranch was his passion and Troy enjoyed family and friends.

A memorial fund will be established in memory of Troy.
