Michael Seim

Michael J. Seim, 62, of Grand Island, died Tuesday June 19, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center following a battle with cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church in Grand Island.  The Reverend Jack Rademacher will officiate.  Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery with full military honors.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday with a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Leo’s Catholic Church.

All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mike was born June 2, 1945 at Grand Island the son of Harold and Loraine (Renken) Seim. He was raised and received his education in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1963.  He entered the United States Navy in 1964, serving during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged in 1970.  Following the military he completed his education at Kearney State College. On November 29, 1969, he was united in marriage to Jane Easley.  They made their home in Grand Island where he worked for the city of Grand Island Underground Electrical Department for 22 years, retiring in May 2006.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Jane, daughter Emma Seim of Kansas City, MO, sons and daughters-in-law Lucas and Traci Seim of Columbus, NE and Jason and Stacey Seim of Brookfield, Wisconsin and brothers and sisters-in-law Tom and Kathy Seim of Stone Mountain, GA, John and Kathy Seim of York, NE, Ronald Seim of Minden, NE, and grandchildren Rylee, Ashlee, Katie, Anna and Matthew.  His parents preceded him in death.

He is a member of St. Leo’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Alcoholics Anonymous, United Veterans Club, and the Liederkranz.  Mike enjoyed Nebraska football, golfing and spending time with family and friends.

Memorials are suggested to Central Catholic, the Crisis Center, or donor’s choice.
