Merl Lee Smith
Merl Lee Smith, 78 of Grand Island, Nebraska died Saturday – January 6, 2007 at St. Francis Skilled Care in Grand Island.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the All Faiths Funeral Home
in Grand Island. The Reverend Tim Rust will officiate. Visitation will
be one hour before service time. Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m.
Friday in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Seminole, Oklahoma.
Mr. Smith was born April 9, 1928 at Seminole, Oklahoma the son of Frank and George Alice (Osborne) Smith.
His wife Donna of fifty-two years preceded him in death.
Survivors are daughters and sons-in-law, Sandy Smith of Grand Island, Jody and Herman Meyer of Doniphan, NE, Cathy and Tom Boragno of Costa Mesa, CA, a son Don Smith of Lincoln, NE and brother-in-law Ron Hamilton of California.
Other survivors are grandchildren Amy Meyer and Joe Boragno.
Merl was raised and received his education in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He served in the United States Navy from 1946-1947. He was united in marriage to Donna Hamilton. They lived in Kimball, NE until 1986, moving to Green Valley, Arizona. Due to health reasons he moved to Grand Island in 2006 to be close to his family. Mr. Smith was employed for over 40 years at Amaco Oil Company.
In addition to his wife Donna, his twin brother Verl Smith and his parents preceded him in death.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or St. Francis
