Jean
Caroline Tagge, 78, of Grand Island,
died Friday December 28, 2007 at home after battling cancer for 2 years,
9 months.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday in the Gollaher Chapel
of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend Nancy Lambert
will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths
Funeral Home.
Jean was born July 25, 1929 in Merrick County to Albert and Lena (Springsguth) Stratman.
Survivors include her husband Gerald, daughters and sons-in-law,
Caroline and Ron George of Grand Island and
Denise and Jim Pascoe of Woodland, CA; son and daughter-in-law,
Dick and Jan Beery of Douglasville, GA.
Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren,
stepson Michael, stepdaughter Caprice, 2 brothers, Lee of Grand Island
and Dale of Gothenburg.
Her first husband Don Beery, Sr., son Don Beery, Jr.,
great grandson A.J. George, her parents, an infant brother, and brother
William of Fremont all preceded her in death.
Jean attended District 1 Lockwood School in Merrick County till 8th grade, and graduated from Grand
Island Senior High School. She
attended Grand
Island Beauty School and
worked as a beautician for 50 years. She worked in Vera’s
Beauty Salon in the Yancey Hotel and Soldiers and Sailors Home
Beauty shop before owning and operating Jean’s Beauty Shop.
Jean was united in marriage to Don Beery, Sr. in 1948. They
had four children. After Don’s death she married Gerald
Tagge in 1976.
Jean was a member of the Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was
a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and loved life in spite
of numerous adversities, which she faced head-on.
Memorials are suggested to either Trinity United Methodist
or the donor’s choice.
