Marie Wiebe

Marie Wiebe, 76, of Doniphan, Nebraska, died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First Baptist Church of Grand Island.  The Reverend Charles Gregory will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wiebe was born October 8, 1930 at Greeley, Nebraska, the daughter of George Francis and Anna Ellen “Ella” (Mohatt) Schafer.

She grew up on the family farm near Greeley where she graduated from Greeley High School.

Marie was united in marriage to Herman Kathman on October 17, 1953.  Mr. Kathman died February 2, 1976.  She later married Abraham F. Wiebe on May 22, 1993.  An outdoor enthusiast, she also worked as a care provider in many nursing centers over the years.

She is survived by her husband Abraham, two sons and daughters-in-law, Francis Paul and Deb Schafer of Doniphan and Joseph and Charlene Kathman of Cairo, NE, two daughters and son-in-law, Janet Plymate of Grand Island and Rosemary and Lynn Wilson of Grand Island, a stepson Billy Pratt of Bartlesville, OK and a stepdaughter June Wiebe of Grand Island.

Other survivors are eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church.

Her parents, her first husband and a sister Pat Nabity preceded her in death.

Memorials are suggested to the family.
