Mary
Liess, 47, of Grand Island died Sunday, May 4, 2008, at Wedgewood Care
Center following an illness with ovarian cancer. 
Services
will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Daniel
Bremer will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church.
The family will be greeting friends from 8 to 9 p.m. so that Mary's
daughter can compete in district track. All Faiths Funeral Home is
in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Liess was born July 29, 1960, at
Hastings to Vernon and Phyllis (Seeman) Meyer. Survivors of the immediate
family include her husband, Mark; two sons, Kevin and Aaron, and
a daughter, Paige; her parents of Blue Hill; two brothers and sisters-in-law,
Dave and Crickett Meyer and Jim and Danece Meyer, all of Blue Hill;
and a sister, Eileen Penrose of Hastings. Additional survivors include
nieces and nephews. Mary grew up on a farm near Blue Hill. She received
her education at Trinity Lutheran School in Blue Hill and graduated
from the Blue Hill High School class of 1978. She received an Executive
Secretary Diploma from Lincoln School of Commerce. She married Mark
Liess on May 1, 1982, at Blue Hill. They made their home in Grand
Island, where she worked at Douglas Bookkeeping for 18 years and
Penrose Machining from 1999 until the present. She was a member of
Grace Lutheran Church and was active in her children's education
at Trinity Lutheran and Heartland Lutheran High School. At Mary's
request, in lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Grace Lutheran
Church, Heartland Lutheran High School or Trinity Lutheran School. |
