Reuel
G. Andersen, 82, of Grand Island died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Good Samaritan
Hospital in Kearney.
Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Grand Island.
The Rev. Charles Gregory will officiate. Burial with military honors
will be in Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Andersen was born Dec. 17, 1925, at Harlan, Iowa, to John and Ida (Pedersen)
Andersen.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Carolyn; a son, Dale Andersen
of Spokane, Wash.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Stanley Jones of Hendersonville,
Tenn.; and two brothers and a sister-in-law, Floyd and Dorothy Andersen and Dewey
Andersen, all of Omaha.
Other survivors are grandchildren, Dayne Andersen, Todd Andersen Jones, Trent
Neil Jones and Graham Michael Jones; and nieces and nephews.
Reuel was raised on a farm near Harlan, Iowa, where he graduated from Harlan
High School with honors in 1943. He attended Commercial Business College and
the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He served in the United States Navy during
WWII.
He married Carolyn Campbell on Oct. 12, 1963. They lived in Omaha, Humboldt,
Tenn., and Council Bluffs, before moving to Grand Island in 1976. Reuel worked
for Delicious Foods in Grand Island from December 1976 until he retired in December
1992 as Vice President of Production.
He was a member of First Baptist Church. Reuel enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking,
caning, NASCAR (both watching and attending) and helping people. He was a sports
enthusiast.
