"Betty" Bartunek
Elizabeth "Betty" Bartunek,
87, of Grand Island died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at Golden Living Center
at Lakeview in Grand Island.
Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Leo's Catholic Church
in Grand Island. The Rev. Jack Rademacher will officiate. Burial
will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a parish rosary
at 7. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bartunek was born Feb. 29, 1920, at David City, to Fred and Irene (Schramek)
Ficke.
Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Ray; a son and daughter-in-law,
Bill and Kathy Bartunek of Grand Island; a daughter, Nancy Bartunek of Glendale,
Ariz.; and a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Kathy Ficke of Plattsburg, Mo.
Other survivors include grandchildren, Stacy and Brian Sybrandts of Grand Island
and Tyler Bartunek of Waverly; and a great-granddaughter, Kyla Sybrandts.
Betty graduated from David City High School in 1937.
She was united in marriage to Raymond Bartunek on May 20, 1941 in David City.
Following their marriage, they farmed near Bee for 25 years. After moving to
Grand Island in 1967, the couple owned and operated Dad's Liquor Store.
Later, Elizabeth was manager of Maurices Apparel Shop, worked in customer service
for Conestoga Mall and was an employee of Home Federal for 10 years.
Betty was a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church. She helped her husband
organize the K of C Bingo for many years and was active in her parish in Bee,
4-H Club and archery. She enjoyed gardening, but most of all her family gatherings.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Memorials are suggested to masses at St. Leo's Catholic Church or donor's
choice.
