Marjorie
M. Batie, 87, of Grand Island died Monday, March 24, 2008, at BryanLGH
East in Lincoln.
Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United
Methodist Church in Grand Island. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate.
Burial will be in Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mrs. Batie was born April 4, 1920, at York to John and Fernlea Wilson.
Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Lyle Batie, two sons and
a daughter-in-law, Steven Batie of Lincoln and David and Janice Batie of Greenville,
N.C.
Other survivors are grandchildren, Courtney and Brandon.
Her parents and a sister, Helen Powel, preceded her in death.
Marjorie was raised in Grand Island, receiving her education at Howard, Walnut
and graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1938. She was united in marriage
to Lyle Batie on June 12, 1949, at Grand Island. She worked as a public accountant
for Roeser Accounting that later became Adkisson Accounting. She later was self
employed.
She is a 75-year member of Trinity United Methodist, where she taught Sunday
school, and was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Platt-Duetsche ladies. She
loved to embroider and cross stitch.
