Francis
P. 'Frank' Berney, 77, of Grand Island died Monday, June 2, 2008, at St.
Francis Medical Center.
Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. The
Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn
Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Berney was born March 29, 1931, at Greeley to William and Agnes (McKinzie)
Berney.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Charlienne; two daughters
and a son-in-law, Teri and Jeff Garey and Bobbi Owen, all of Grand Island; a
son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Christie Berney of Hastings; three sisters and
a brother-in-law, Rita Horst, Judy and Gib Johnson and Dorothy Dennhardt, all
of Grand Island; and a brother and sister-in-law, William and Pat Berney of Hastings.
Other survivors include three grandchildren, Asia and her husband, Brian Boslau,
Josh Berney and fianc?e, Audrey, and Cody Berney.
Frank grew up on a farm near Greeley, receiving his education at Greeley. He
entered the United States Army during the Korean War on Feb. 29, 1952, and was
honorably discharged on Feb. 17, 1954.
Frank was united in marriage to Charlienne Joseph on Jan. 4, 1957, in Grand Island,
where the couple made their home. Frank worked at Nash Finch for 20 years before
retiring in 1993.
He was a member of Platt-Duetsche. His favorite pastime was spending time
with his family.
Mr. Berney was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joe and Raymond
Berney; and three sisters, Mary Ellen Miller, Agnes Roehatch and Betty Jean Lieser.
