Donald
L. Dory, 45, of Winfield, Ala., formerly of Grand Island, died Thursday,
April 3, 2008, at Winfield.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand
Island. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate.
Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday in Custer Center Cemetery west of
Broken Bow with military honors by the U.S. Marine Corps.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
Mr. Dory was born Aug. 23, 1962, in Broken Bow to James and Sherrill Dory.
Survivors of the immediate family include one son, Tyler Dory of Winfield; one
daughter, Jovanne Dory of Omaha; his father, James Dory of Grand Island; his
mother and stepfather, Sherrill and Ronald Adams of Winfield; and one brother,
Michael Dory of Grand Island.
His grandparents and aunt May Reed preceded him in death.
Donald served in the United States Marine Corps from 1981-83. He was honorably
discharged as a lance corporal. Donald had been a resident of Winfield for the
past 12 years. He attended Bevill State College at Fayette, Ala. Donald retired
from Doster Construction, working in Winfield. He was a volunteer at Winfield
Hospital at the reception desk and volunteered at the Salvation Army.
He was a museum coordinator for the Car Nut Club and attended Faith Fellowship
Church, both in Winfield.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army or to a church of the donor's
choice.
