Mavis L. Frandsen
“Mae” Mavis
L. Frandsen, 83, of Grand Island,
died Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend George Wheat will
officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral
Home.
Mae was born on April 13, 1924 in Randolph, Vermont, the daughter of Frank and Annabell
(Bresett) Pike. She resided in Randolph for
several years before moving with her family to Pittsfield, Massachusetts. She grew up in Pittsfield and graduated from Pittsfield High School. She had worked in a
woolen mill and was employed by General Electric Company building
destroyer escort motors. After graduation, Mavis left Pittsfield and
moved to Washington, D.C.,
where she worked for the Bureau of Reviews and Discharges.
Mae met Dale R. Frandsen for the first time at a dance. She
and Dale were united in marriage on August 24, 1946, in Washington. They
moved to Grand Island in
1946.
She was employed by Sears and J.C. Penney stores in Grand
Island. After her children were
born she was a full-time wife, mother and homemaker. Mavis
enjoyed gardening, genealogy, cooking and watching television.
Her husband, Dale Frandsen, preceded her in death on
April 10, 2004.
Those left to cherish her memory are; daughter, Karen
Frandsen of Grand Island; a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Julie
Frandsen of Grand Island; one sister, Frances Marcinkowski, sister-in-law,
Shirley Pike, two grandsons, Eric and Joel Frandsen and many nieces
and nephews.
In addition to her husband who died April 10th of
2004, she was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two
brothers.
Memorials are suggested to the Epilepsy Foundation, Alzheimer’s
Foundation, American Cancer Society or donor’s choice.
