Earl
S. "Stan" Irish, 78, of Grand Island died Sunday, April 20,
2008, at Tiffany Square Center in Grand Island.
Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home. The Rev.
Royce Rinehart will officiate, with full military honors.
There will be no visitation. Mr. Irish was cremated.
Mr. Irish was born July 5, 1929, on the family farm near Brocksburg to Earl and
Zelma Irish.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kellie K. Irish, and daughter,
Marlys Jean Brindisi.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Helen; two sons and daughters-in-law,
Larry and Michelle Irish and Clay and Alejandra Irish; a daughter and son-in-law,
Sean and Walter Wasserburger; and two stepdaughters and a stepson-in-law, Julie
and Mike Pokorney and Pam Hasselman.
Other survivors are 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Romona Ratliff.
Stan moved to Stuart as a youngster, where he finished school, graduating from
Stuart High School in 1947. He worked for Cleary Brothers in Stuart as a meat
cutter before entering the United States Army in 1948. Following the military,
he moved to Valentine, where he worked at the Valentine Locker Plant for 13 years.
He moved in 1966 to Grand Island, where he worked for Swift, WHICH became Monfort
where he retired in 1998.
He was active in the American Legion in Valentine, serving as commander of Leo
Brinda Post 90.
