Roberta Nauman
S. Roberta Nauman, 78, of Grand Island, died December 1, 2008 at home.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Friday at the Evangelical
Free Church. The Reverend Gary Schulte will officiate. Burial
of ashes will be at a later date in the Johnson County Memorial Gardens in Kansas City, KS.
Cremation has taken place. All Faiths Funeral Home
is in charge of arrangements.
Roberta was born April 22, 1930 at Bridgeport, NE, the daughter of Bertie and Sylvia (Hotaling)
Cummings.
Her husband Charles J. Nauman preceded her in death on
September 22, 1996.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Bobbi and Gayle
Herbst of Grand Island; a sister and brother-in-law, Georgia and
Duane Roberts of Sun City, AZ and two brothers and a sister-in-law,
Donald Cummings of Kearney, NE and Floyd and Opal Cummings of Greeley,
CO.
Other survivors are two granddaughters and their husbands,
Christina and Timothy Miller of Lincoln and
Tamara and Bradley Steinman of Omaha; and a great grandson, Dutch Andrew Miller.
In addition to her husband, Charles, she is preceded
in death by her parents and a brother, Merle Cummings.
Roberta was raised on a farm where Lake McConaughy is now located. She graduated
from Eckley High
School in NW Nebraska. She received
her teaching certificate from the University of NE Lincoln. At the age of 50 she
graduated from Rock Hurst College in Kansas
City.
She was united in marriage to Charles J. Nauman on April
28, 1967 in Miami, OK. Following
their marriage the couple lived in Shawnee Mission, KS. Roberta
moved to Grand Island following Charles
death in 1997.
She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church and White
Cross Missions Group, going on a mission trip to Mexico with
her church. Roberta enjoyed bible study and playing bridge.
