Helen L. Nelson, 90, of Grand Island, died Saturday, December 13, 2008 at the Golden Living Center at Lakeview.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. till service time on Wednesday.
Mrs. Nelson was born October 5, 1918 at Burwell, NE the daughter of John and Clara (Kuskie) Helget.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Larry Knuth of Grand Island; a brother, Peter Helget of California; sisters, Margaret Jokerst, Josephine Beherns, Theresa Beckman all of California and Doris Geiger of Utica, NE.
Other survivors are grandsons, Lawney, Laren, Kevin and Karlon Knuth and great grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Dustin, Lane, Makenzy, Grady and Greta.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gil and a son John Spitz.
Helen was raised and received her education in Seward County near Beaver City. She married Gilbert Nelson on October 12, 1973. They made their home in Grand Island where she worked at Koffman’s Department Store and Hested’s Department Store. She is of the Catholic faith. Helen enjoyed playing bingo, crocheting, quilting and flower gardening.
