Clarence
'Pete' Peter, 84, of Grand Island died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2008, at Tiffany
Square Center.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. The
Rev. Harvey Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island
Cemetery, with full military honors.
Visitation will be one hour prior to service.
Mr. Peter was born July 11, 1924, at Hadar to Otto and Bertha (Warneke) Peter.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, June; children and their
spouses, Dr. Douglas Peter of Window Rock, Ariz., Patricia Kahre of Helena, Mont.,
James and Denise Peter of Lincoln and Sandra Peter and her husband, Louis Monson,
of Lincoln; and brothers, Marlin Peter of San Bernardino, Calif., and Arvon Peter
of Manitowoc, Wis.
Other survivors are grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Hazel Kahre, Kali
and Jared Schoettger, and Kyle Peter, and great-granddaughter, Amber Kahre.
He was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Elmer.
Pete was raised at Norfolk, attending St. Paul's Lutheran School and graduating
from Norfolk Senior High, class of 1943. He served in the United States Army
during WWII from July 27, 1943, and was honorably discharged Jan. 3, 1946.
He was united in marriage to June Ballantyne on June 23, 1946, at Norfolk. They
made their home in Grand Island. Pete worked in sales most of his professional
career.
He is a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
