Leslie
Scholz, 64, of rural Grand Island, died Saturday, July 5, 2008, at St.
Francis Medical Center.
Services
will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Peace Lutheran Church. The Rev.
Michael Reiners will officiate. Burial will be in the Wiegert Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with family greeting friends from
6 to 8, at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Scholz was born on March 6, 1944, in rural Hall County to Anthony and Clara
(Pollock) Scholz.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Sue; his children, Sarah
and Jason, both living at home; his mother of Grand Island; a brother and sister-in-law,
Donald and Jolynn Scholz of Grand Island; and a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley
and Garry Schmidt of Lexington.
Other survivors are a godson, Aaron Scholz, and other nieces and nephews.
Leslie was raised on a family farm, attending school at District 55, Trinity
Lutheran and graduating from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1962.
He married Sue Blecha on Sept. 28, 1985.
Leslie was employed at Grand Island Livestock and Third City Sale Barn. He also
farmed and for the past eight years, he was a meat clerk at Super Saver.
He is a member of Peace Lutheran Church and the Platt-Duetsche. Leslie enjoyed
dancing, fishing and was active with scouting and 4-H, including entomology with
his son.
His father preceded him in death.
Memorials are suggested to either Heartland Lutheran High School or Trinity Lutheran
School.
