Abeline attended school District #4. She was united

the next 16 years as a farm wife, living near Doniphan for 2 years,
then moving to a farm 6 miles east of Cairo.
Her husband died October 12, 1939. She remained
on the farm until 1942 at which time she moved into Grand Island with her 3 sons. She was employed
at Butter Krust Bakery until her retirement. She was a member
of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Platte Duetsche Ladies Society,
and VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 1347.
Although Abby did not want much made of the fact that
she became the oldest resident in Nebraska, and that at 110 she became a super
centenarian, it was great to see her become young again when being
interviewed by the media. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo. Her
memory will be treasured by many.
Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
