Ohleen
L. Swanson, 87, of Grand Island died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Hamilton
Manor in Aurora.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Blessed
Sacrament Catholic Church. The Reverend Francis T. Curran will officiate. Burial
will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday with a parish
rosary at 6:00 p.m. all at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with
honors by the Catholic Daughters of America Court Queen of Peace
#2227.
Ohleen was born on March 18, 1920 at Burwell, NE the daughter of Robert and Edith Loretta
Hoppes. She was raised and received her education at Burwell. She
was united in marriage to Forrest Swanson on October 13, 1940 in
Burwell. They lived in Burwell until making Grand
Island their home where she worked at Dub’s
Sporting Store until becoming a full time mother following the birth
of her children.
She is a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church,
Catholic Daughters of America, she loved to dance, crotchet and enjoyed
life.
Her husband Forrest Swanson preceded her in death in
1990.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Connie
Swanson and Pam Swanson both of Grand Island and brother and sister-in-law,
Dale and Ruth Hoppes of Ord and sisters, Lilas Rowse of Burwell and
Loy “Tootie” Smith of Boelus, sister-in-law, Roma Hoppes
of Burwell, grandchildren, Mark Kersten, Tony Kersten, Stephanie
Kersten and Olivia Swanson.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death
by a son Dennis “Danny”, a brother Willard Hoppes and
a sister Ilva Schuyler.
Memorials are suggested to Central Catholic or a fund
will be established in Ohleen’s name.
