Arthur
H. Tillman, 89, of Grand Island died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, at Tiffany
Square Center.
 Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church. The Rev. Stuart
Burt will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be an hour before services. All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge
of arrangements.

Mr. Tillman was born May 1, 1919, at Grand Island to Charles and Olga (Niedfeldt)
Tillman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Gertrude (Safranek) Tillman, on Sept.
21, 1986.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Doris; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law,
Dell and Janet Tschuden and Tim and Shelly Tschuden; three stepdaughters and
two stepsons-in-law, Christine and Eytan Gill, Kathy and Rich Kowalewski and
Rhonda Simpson; and foster stepdaughter and husband, Rhonda and Daron Talsman.
Other survivors are 13 stepgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Margy Tillman and Jo
Cool, both of Grand Island, Katie Safranek of Merna; and brothers-in-law, and
their wives, Dwight and Emma Lyon and Herman and Detta Safranek, all of Merna;
numerous nieces and nephews and special caregiver, his niece, LaDonna Cool.
Art grew up in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High, class of
1938. He married Gertrude Safranek on June 29, 1941. He served in the United
States Army. Later in life following the death of Gertrude, he was united in
marriage to Doris Tschuden.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith where he remained an active
member. Art spent his retirement traveling with his wife, Doris in their motor
home.
In addition to his first wife, he is preceded in death by his parents, a brother
Charles and brothers-in-law, Dale Cool and Carl Safranek and a great-niece, Jennifer
Mettenbrink.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Grace Lutheran Church or
Heartland Lutheran High School.
