Jerry R. Beck

Jerry R. Beck, 70, of Grand Island, died Thursday, December 17, 2009.

Service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church.  Reverend William Pavuk will officiate.  Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the United Veterans Honor Guard and U.S. Navy.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Beck was born March 6, 1939 at Lexington, NE the son of Wilbur and Esther (Eggers) Beck.

Survivors are his wife Gaylene; sisters and brothers-in-law, Sandy and Kenny Maret of Grand Island and Jolene and Barry Buchholz of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Other survivors are brother-in-law and his wife, Gary and Charlene Peterson of Grand Island; special cousins, Barb and Dick Berthold of York and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was welcomed into heaven by his parents.

Jerry was raised in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High, class of 1958.  He entered the United States Navy in 1958, serving on the USS Hanson.  He was honorably discharged in 1962. 

He was united in marriage to Garylene Peterson on June 15, 1963 at Grand Island.  They made Grand Island their home and he worked for Northwestern Bell which later became AT&T for 29 years.  Then he went to work for Lines of Communication for nine years.

He is a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Platt-Duetsche, Eagles, Saddle Club and the American Legion.  Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and riding his Harley Davidson.

Memorials are suggested to the church, Disabled American Veterans or donor’s choice.
