Mary E. Beckstrom
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend George Wheat will officiate. Burial of ashes will be at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Cremation will take place following the visitation.
Mrs. Beckstrom was born on October 12, 1920 at Vermillion, SD the daughter of Theodore and Mary (Ellis) Solomon.
Survivors are her husband Eldon Beckstrom; son and daughter-in-law, Warren and Deb Tankesley of Lincoln; daughters, Carol Hazard of St. Paul, MN and Marguerite Nielson of Omaha; step-children and their spouses, Gary and Deb Beckstrom of Grand Island, Tony and Joan Beckstrom of Grand Island, Richard and Diane Beckstrom of Hastings and Scott Beckstrom of Glendale, Arizona and a brother, Lloyd Solomon of Texas.
Other survivors are nine grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren. Her first husband Warren; son, Charles; one brother and four sisters preceded her in death.
Mary was raised and received her education in Sioux City, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Warren Tankesley, Sr. on April 22, 1946. She worked for Woolworth in Fremont and Grand Island. She then worked for the Lutheran Hospital in Grand Island. She married Eldon Beckstrom on May 5, 1982.
Mary is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the VFW Auxiliary. She loved to bowl and was an avid Nebraska football fan. Her memory will be treasured by many.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to either the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.
