F. Gehle
Albert F. Gehle, 98, of Grand Island,
died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at Tiffany Square Center.
Service will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church with a family prayer service at
10:45 a.m. The Reverend Kris Rebentisch will officiate. Burial will
be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths
Funeral Home.
Mr. Gehle was born on October 3, 1910 at Buffalo, Nebraska the son of Gustav and Anna (Holtz)
Gehle.
His wife Wilma preceded him in death in 1992.
Survivors are his children and their spouses, Karen and
Dr. Peter Koch-Weser of Gloucester, Massachusetts, Mary and John Perrin of Bellevue, Nebraska and
Steven and Maureen Gehle of El Segundo, California.
Other survivors are grandchildren, Susan, Jennifer, Jacy,
Benjamin, Michael, Mariah and Peter; and great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews, Margaret,
Eleanor, Michael, Jacob, Lucas, Henry, Evan, Isaac, Peter and William.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers,
August, Walter, Rudolph and Edwin and sisters, Lulu, Adele and Hilda.
Albert was baptized into the Lutheran faith October 30,
1910 in the First Lutheran Church at Buffalo, NE by
Pastor A. Dorman. He received his elementary education at Zion Lutheran School north
of Shelton and Trinity Lutheran School in Grand Island. He was confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church on May 24, 1925 by Pastor H. Wilkens. He
graduated form Grand Island Senior High in 1929.
On September 4, 1938 he was united in marriage to Wilma
C. Juilfs in Trinity Lutheran Church, by Pastor O.W. Graebner. Mrs.
Gehle passed away on August 20, 1992.
He was a voting member of Trinity Lutheran congregation. He
served as Treasurer, Secretary for six years, Board of Trustees six
years and Board of Elders, three years. He was a Sunday school
teacher and member of the Choir. He was a member of Trinity
Walther League and served as president for two years, and was secretary
of the State Executive Board of the Walther League for four years. He
was a Charter Member of Trinity Lutheran Laymen’s League and
served as Treasurer for two years and as President for two years. He
was appointed Treasurer of the Trinity Lutheran Church Foundation.
After graduating form high school he worked for Roesers
Grocery Store for six years. He then accepted a position as
cashier for Central Power Company which in 1946 became a part of
Consumers Public Power District. In 1947 he was transferred
to Kearney as area storekeeper. In 1950 he
returned to Grand Island to
work for Kriz-Davis Company as purchasing agent. He advanced
to manager of the company, retiring in 1976.
