Doris R. Gibson

Doris R. Gibson, 85, of Grand Island died, Tuesday July 7, 2009 at St Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

No visitation. A private family service will be held at a later date.  All Faiths Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Gibson was born February 25, 1924, in Rochester New York to Alfred and Eva (LaPlante) Rutherford.

Survivors of the immediate family include two daughters and their spouses, Dale and Greg Baker of Grand Island and Terry and Ralph Robson of Spring Texas.

Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Matthew Baker and Linsey (Baker) Mettenbrink, Nathan and Hannah Robson and three great grandchildren, Ella Baker, Lucy Baker and Jack Mettenbrink.

Doris was born and raised in Rochester, New York, lived in Colorado Springs and the surrounding area before moving to Nebraska. She settled in Grand Island in 1978 where she was able to spend quality time with her grandchildren. In her later years she adopted her pet cat “Rocky” who was her pride and joy and constant companion the last few years.

Mrs. Gibson was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert R. Gibson, two brothers and two sisters.
