(Bonnie) Louise (Brannagan) Gnadt
Bonita (Bonnie) Louise (Brannagan) Gnadt, 75, of Grand
Island, died Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Tiffany Square Center.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the St. Pauls
Lutheran Church, 1515 South Harrison Grand Island. The Reverend
Randy Fett will officiate. Private family burial will be in
the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Friday at All Faiths
Funeral Home, 2929 S. Locust Grand
Island.
Bonnie was born on February 6, 1933 in Hastings, NE the daughter of Vern and Louise (Flessner)
Brannagan. She grew up in Manhattan, KS, graduating from Manhattan High School in
1951. She attended Kansas State University studying interior decorating.
Bonnie was married to Ken Gnadt on June 1, 1952 at St.
Lukes Lutheran Church in Manhattan. The couple made their home
in Salina for
the U.S. Air Force. Other areas lived were Chanute, Dodge
City, Alma, all in Kansas; Ft. Worth, Tokyo and Taipei, Taiwan. They moved to Grand Island in the early
1970’s.
Bonnie was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, very
active in the local Bridge groups. While living in Taiwan she
published “Bonnies Bridge Basics.” She taught basic
and duplicate bridge lessens to groups in Taiwan, Japan and here. Her Christmas
letters were a joy to read. In several communities she did
part-time work with Sears or J.C. Penny doing interior decorating. She
never missed attending her kid’s activities. Family,
camping, travel, bridge and friends all were her love. Bonnie
was a gracious “First Lady” of Grand Island as Ken served as Mayor or 8 years.
Survivors include her husband, Ken, four sons and one
daughter, Jim and Christy of Grand Island, John and Jayne of Highlands
Ranch, CO, Jerry of Denver, CO, Jeff of Aurora, CO, Janet and Chris
Ringel; and four grandkids, Brittany, Jordon, Eli and Chelsea of
Arlington, TX; sister, Kathy and El Dean Holthus of Smith Center,
KS; brother, Dennis and Sharon Brannagan of Hanover, VA and sister,
Janice Hill of Manhattan, KS.

Grand Island Public School Foundation or St. Pauls
Lutheran Church Foundation.
