“Dee” Delores
K. Haack, 77, of Grand Island,
died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the Country House Residences.
Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran
Church. The Reverend William Pavuk will officiate. Burial
will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at All Faiths
Funeral Home.
Mrs. Haack was born July 23, 1931 at Marysville, Kansas the daughter of Lawrence and Goldie
(Foley) Terry.
Survivors are her husband, Frank Haack; children and
their spouses, Cathy and Don Lichty of Parker, CO, Craig and Barbara
Lewis of Grand Island, Michael and Chris Lewis of St. Charles, MO
and Kurt Haack of Wichita, KS; step children and their spouses, Frank
and Kate Haack of Hastings, David and Teri Haack of Columbia, MO
and Avery Haack of Ft. Collins, CO; a brother, Hal Terry of Colorado
Springs, CO; and sisters and a brother-in-law, Carol Fitzke of Kearney
and Sharon and Jim Bennett of Grand Island.
Other survivors are grandchildren, Paul, Deidre, Terese,
Sam, Mary, Peter, Betsy, Zach, Jackson,
Colin and Sydney;
and step-grandchildren, Jereme, Amber, Danielle and Jon.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Gene, her
parents and grandchildren, Steven Lewis and Andrew Lewis.
Delores graduated from high school in Glenville, Nebraska. She received a degree from
the Grand Island Business College.
In 1950 Delores was united in marriage to Gene Lewis. Mr.
Lewis died in 1966. She later married Frank Haack in 1968. Delores
worked her early years as a bookkeeper for the Cornhusker Ammunition
Plant, as a bookkeeper for Fairmont Dairy and as a bookkeeper for
Big Chief Industries. She later became a fulltime homemaker
caring for her family.
She is a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. Some
of her enjoyments were playing cards; she belonged to an investment
club and loved the horse races. She was a gifted painter; painting
in oils and a China painter. She
enjoyed following all of her grandkids activities and enjoyed husker
football. Her memory will be treasured by her family and many
friends.
