Carl August Luebbe
Carl August Luebbe, 89, of Grand Island, died Saturday, August 8, 2009.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Reverend Randy Fett will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Luebbe was born September 21, 1919 at Grand Island the son of August and Lillie (Moeller) Luebbe.
His wife Lorraine died August 11, 2006.
Survivors are son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Patti Luebbe of Columbus, NE; grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Heidi Luebbe, Andy and Angie Luebbe and Cathy and Fili Sanchez and great-grandchildren, Aspen, Ean and Eastyn Luebbe, Gracie, Maggie and Sadie Luebbe, Sammy and Benny Sanchez; and sisters-in-law, Irene Luebbe of Grand Island and Joyce Luebbe of Pocatello, Idaho.
In addition to his wife, he is welcomed into heaven by his parents and brothers, Harold and Arnold Luebbe.
Carl was raised on the family farm north of Grand Island near Worms, NE. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Reams on June 4, 1944. They lived in Grand Island where Carl worked at the American Crystal Factory and later the City of Grand Island for 35 years with the last 24 years as City Parks Superintendent.
He is a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Eagles, and the Platt-Duetsche Society. In his earlier years, Carl enjoyed hunting and fishing and later playing cards with his many friends. His memory will be treasured by many.
