E. McNannay
Janice E. McNannay, 81, of Grand
Island, died Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Tiffany Square Center.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran
Church in Grand Island. The
Reverend Randy Fett will officiate. Burial of ashes will be
in the Parkview Cemetery in Hastings.
There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral
Home of Grand Island is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. McNannay was born August 31, 1928, in Glenvil, Nebraska to Dick and Jessie Mensen.
Survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and
John Madison of Lead Hill, Arkansas; two stepsons, Dan Nitzel of Grand Island and John Nitzel of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Other survivors are two step grandchildren, Kari and
Jeff Nitzel of Santa Fe.
Janice was united in marriage to Lloyd Jordan on January
24, 1946. The couple made their home in Hastings where she was employed as a secretary
for the Kansas-Nebraska Natural Gas Company for 17 years.
She married Jeff Nitzel on November 21, 1973. Mr.
Nitzel died in 1979. She was employed in the executive offices
of J. M. McDonald Company and later for the Hastings Daily Tribune
before moving to Grand Island in
1984. She was employed at the Grand Island Daily Independent
until retiring in 1990.
She married James R. McNannay on May 25, 1990 in Grand
Island. Mr. McNannay died in 1992.
Mrs. McNannay was a member of St.
Paul’s Lutheran Church and Mary Circle of the
Church. She was a member of BPO Does Drove #147, the Platt
Duetsch Ladies, the Grand Island Saddle Club, and the City James
Club. She was a Reach to Recovery Volunteer for the American
Cancer Society and a volunteer at St. Francis Medical Center. She
loved to travel and enjoyed dancing.
Memorials are suggested to be made to the American Cancer
Society or to St. Pauls Lutheran Church.
