"Bob" Robert F. Porter

“Bob” Robert F. Porter, 70, of Grand Island died Wednesday December 2, 2009 at Saint Francis Medical Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home.  Dan Naranjo will officiate.  Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Mr. Porter was born on March 3, 1939 at Spalding, NE, the son of Floyd and Marian (McMaster) Porter.

Survivors are his wife, Pam; sons and daughter-in-law, Andrew Brown of Lincoln, NE, Phil Porter and his friend, Theresa Kelley of Phillips, NE and Stephen and Shannon Porter of Hastings, NE; daughter, Stacy Ramirez and her friend Kenny Torrez of Scottsbluff, NE; brother, Dwayne Porter of Grand Island; sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma and Jim Zahm of Grand Island and Nancy and Bob Hinze of Duncan, NE.

Those also left to cherish his memory are 10 Grandchildren.  He was welcomed into heaven by his parents, sisters, Margaret Mahoney and Marilyn Berger.

Robert grew up and received his education in rural Spalding, graduating from Spalding High School.

Mr. Porter entered the United States Air Force on May 31, 1956.  He was honorably discharged on June 24, 1959 and reinstated June 25, 1959. Robert completed his tour of duty in June, 1960 and returned stateside to Lincoln Air Force Base, Lincoln, NE.

He was united in marriage to Pamela J. Nunn on February 20, 1970 in England.  They have made Grand Island there home since 1979.

He was employed with McCain Foods before retiring in 2006 due to illness.

Robert enjoyed fishing and yard work.  He especially loved spending time with his family.
