J. Ryan
Francis J. Ryan,
80, of Grand Island, formerly of Lebanon, KS, died Friday, July 10,
2009, at A Golden Living Center Park Place in Grand Island.
A memorial service
will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel. Chaplain
Don Voorhees with St. Francis Hospice will officiate. In honor
of Mr. Ryan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. There
will be no visitation.
Mr. Ryan was
born May 18, 1929 in Watseka, IL, the son of John and Alice (Carly)
Ryan.
Those left to
cherish his memory are his daughter and her husband, Nancy and Facundo
Toledo of Grand Island; three sons, John Ryan and special friend Brenda
Wells of Hastings, Roy Ryan and special friend Judy Wade of Upland,
NE, and Scott Ryan and his wife Alma of Minden, NE.
He is also survived
by six grandchildren, Samantha, Morgan, Amanda, Sara, Amelia and Stefanee;
and a niece, Donna Kay Alagretti.
He is preceded
in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Jean in 1992; five brothers
and a sister.
Francis grew
up and attended school at Watseka, IL. He was united in marriage
to Sara Jean McHale in 1971. After traveling throughout Mexico
and the United States, Francis and Jean settled in Lebanon, KS.
There was nothing
that Francis was not afraid to try. He was a driller in the oil
fields, built custom homes, was Sheriff in Colorado, raised horses,
refinished and sold antiques, and much more.
He was a 32nd Degree
Mason, belonged to the Scottish Rite and was a member of Eastern Star.
