"Porky" Robert C. Scheel

“Porky” Robert C. Scheel, 76, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Good Samaritan Home in Wood River.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.  The Reverends Jerry Quandt and Darrell Holzinger will officiate.  Burial of ashes will be in the Bowen Cemetery at Red Bird, MO.

Mr. Scheel was born April 17, 1932 at Red Bird, Missouri the son of Gustave and Arvy (Sewell) Scheel.

Survivors are his children and their spouses, Bob Scheel of Hastings, Walter “Moe” and Connie Scheel of Grand Island and Cathy and Joseph Cochnar of Grand Island and a sister, Laura Cautrell of Lincoln.

Other survivors are grandchildren, Stephanie, Emily, Jennifer, Mollie, Katie, Kelsie, Christopher and Kayla and great-granddaughter, Aleigh.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Norma, and a son, Randall.

Robert was raised and received his education in the Red Bird, MO area.  He entered the United States Army, serving from 1952-1954.  He was united in marriage to Mildred Stover and moving to Grand Island in 1979.

Robert was a professional truck driver.  He was an accomplished guitar player.
