Herman
Schuett, 77, of rural Chapman was called to the Lord's home from his family
farm, Sunday, March 8, 2009.
Services will be 10:30 AM on Friday
at the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. Reverend Craig Niemeier will officiate. Burial
will be in the Zion Lutheran Church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on
Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Mr. Schuett was born April 3, 1931
on the family farm in rural Chapman, the son of Henry and Bertha
(Kruse) Schuett.
His life and memory will be cherished
by his wife, Ilene; two sons and daughter-in-law, Kenyon Schuett
of Raleigh Durham, North Carolina and Roger and Sally (Hircock) Schuett
of Chapman; a sister, Irene Alder of Grand Island; and a brother
Harold Schuett of Mexia, Texas, along with many family, friends,
and acquaintances who loved him dearly.
He is joined in Heaven with his parents
and a brother, Herbert Schuett, all of whom preceded him in death.
Herman was raised on the family farm. He
attended country grade school, 8th grade at Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Grand Island
Senior High, class of 1948. He was united in marriage to his
soul mate and best friend, Ellen Ilene Holtzen, on April 17, 1966. They
shared a lifetime of love and happiness on the family farm.
He was baptized, confirmed and a
lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church at Worms and always looked forward to church gatherings
to visit with friends and neighbors. He was currently serving
his third term on the Merrick County Board of Supervisors where he
previously chaired the Board and was involved with many community
committees. Some of his many other involvements were the Nebraska
Cooperative Extension Board, the Bader Park Peer Group, the Vieregg
Township Board, FSA Committee member, and lifetime member of the
Farmer's Union. Herman was
a dedicated public servant who cared deeply about making his community
a better place. Herman was known for seeing the good in everyone
and everything. Herman's smile always left everyone at ease.
First and foremost, Herman carried
deep Faith in our Lord, Jesus Christ, and our Savior, which guided
him in being a loving husband, proud father, and caring steward of
the land. He loved farm life where he reaped the rewards of
hard work by carefully tilling the Spring soil, planting seeds, praying
for good weather and patiently waiting for each bountiful Fall harvest.
A memorial fund will be established
in memory of Herman.
