F. Willard Scobie
F. Willard Scobie, 75, of Grand Island, died Monday, August 17, 2009.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday in Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. The Reverend Jay Vetter will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Scobie was born September 5, 1933 at Giltner, NE the son of Forest and Tola (Shepard) Scobie.
Survivors are his wife Lou and daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Scott Heady of Leawood, KS and Lisa and John Nitecki of Rushford, MN.
Those also left to cherish his memory are grandchildren, Stephanie, Daniel and Christopher Heady and Jacob, Hannah and Phillip Nitecki; special aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. His parents, stepmother, Doris Flowerday Scobie and an infant brother preceded him in death.
Willard was raised on a family farm near Giltner. He graduated from Giltner High School, class of 1951. On May 8, 1960 he was united in marriage to Lou Ella Thiessen. They lived in Hastings for one year where he worked for Hastings Grain Inspection before moving to Grand Island and running the Grand Island office for forty years.
He is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Willard enjoyed playing golf, husker football; was a sports enthusiast and loved following his daughters activities. His memory will be treasured by many.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Parkinson Disease Association.
