Irvin G. Stolley

Irvin G. Stolley, 83, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Golden Living Center Park Place.

Service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home Chapel.  The Reverend Lonnie Logan will officiate.  Burial of ashes will be at Grand Island City Cemetery with military honors by the Navy and United Veterans Honor Guard. 

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4-7 Sunday at All Faiths Funeral Home. 

Mr. Stolley was born February 9, 1926 in Hall County the son of Frederick and Florence (Vieth) Stolley.

Survivors are his wife, Marilyn; children, Linda Sands of Grand Island, Todd Stolley of Johnson Lake and Terri Brixius of Grand Island.

Other survivors are grandchildren, Jason Sands, Mark Sands, Aaron Sands, Kayla Brixius and Josh Brixius; great-grandchildren, Haylee Sands, Micah Sands and Claire Sands.

Irvin was raised in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High.  He entered the United States Navy in 1944, serving during WWII and honorably discharged in 1946.  On December 7, 1946 he was united in marriage to Marilyn Kriz.  They made their home in Grand Island where they owned and operated Florence’s Tavern.

He is a member of the Platt-Duetsche and the Doniphan American Legion. Irvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, softball, bowling and coached little league.

His parents and brother, Freddy preceded him in death.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
