"Jerry" Gerald
Tagge
“Jerry” Gerald Tagge,
76, of Grand Island,
died Monday, November 09, 2009 at St. Francis Medical Center.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday
in the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church. Reverend Jay Vetter will
officiate. Military honors will be provided by the United Veterans
Honor Guard and the U.S. Navy. Cremation will take place following
the service and ashes will be buried in the Grand
Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m.
Friday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Tagge was born July 3, 1933 at Grand
Island the son of Rudolph and Helen (Cain)
Tagge.
His wife Jean preceded him in death.
Survivors are son, Mike Tagge of
Grand Island; daughter and son-in-law, Caprice and Ken Green of Grand
Island and brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Peg Tagge of Ft. Collins,
CO.
Other survivors are five grandchildren,
Amelia, Felisha, Beau, Hope and Alexis and three great-grandchildren,
Alana, Kira and Dylan. He is also survived by step-children,
step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
Jerry attended school district 28
and graduated from Grand Island Senior High. He served in the
United States Navy from 1951 until being honorably discharged in
1961. He married Leann Lorance in 1962. Later he married
Jean (Stratman) Beery in 1976. He and Jean where married for
31 years before her passing on December 28, 2007.
Jerry worked at Redman’s before
becoming the grounds supervisor for Stuhr Museum. He retired from Stuhr after
working there for many years. He is a member of the Eagles,
VFW, American Legion and the Platt Duetsche.
His parents; wife, Jean and brothers,
James, Don and Frank Tagge welcomed him into heaven.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are
suggested to GRACE “Grand Island Cancer Endowment fund”.
