Allen L. Bomstad

Allen L. Bomstad, 83, of Grand Island, died Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Grand Island Nebraska Veterans Home.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.    Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors by the Nebraska Army National Guard and the United Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home.

Mr. Bomstad was born September 28, 1926 at Kenmare, N.D. the son of Martin and Edith (Nordstrom) Bomstad.

His wife Jacqueline preceded him in death in 1993.

Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff Bomstad of Centennial, CO, Scott and Karrie Bomstad of Bend, OR, Cameron and Julie Bomstad of Las Vegas, NV and Paul and Jill Bomstad of Springfield, IL; daughter, Kristin Bomstad of Denver, CO and a brother, Loren Bomstad of Kenmare, N.D..

Other survivors are six grandchildren and close friends, Ila Scherer and Jim and Liz Senn.  In addition to his wife, his parents and brother, Marlyn preceded him in death.

Allen was raised in Coulee, N.D., graduating from high school in Donnybrook, N.D.  He attended North Dakota State College at Fargo.  He entered the United States Army on January 24, 1945 serving during WWII and was honorably discharged on September 13, 1946.

He was united in marriage to Jacqueline Anderson on March 27, 1954.  They lived in Billings, Montana, Omaha, Columbus and Holdrege before moving to Grand Island in 1977.

He worked at Meyers Equipment, with agriculture and industrial equipment sales.
