Cleo V. Eads

Cleo V. Eads, 87, of Grand Island, died Sunday, February 21, 2010 at the Golden Living Center at Park Place in Grand Island with her family by her side.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the Minden Cemetery.  Reverend Melanie Adams will officiate.

Gathering of family and friends will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island.  To honor Mrs. Eads wishes cremation has taken place.

Mrs. Eads was born March 18, 1922 at Minden the daughter of James and Maggie (Simon) Ream.

Survivors are her husband of 67 years, Everett; sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Chris Eads of Clay Center and William ‘Rick’ and Cindy Eads of Grand Island and grandchildren, Jacey, Darcey, Lindsey and Shannon.  Cleo was soon to be blessed with her first great-grandchild.

She was welcomed into heaven by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.

Cleo was the youngest of eight children.  She graduated from Minden High School in 1940 and was then employed by Berndt Drug Store for a short time.  After her work at Berndt’s she worked for two years at the Navel Ammunition Depot east of Hastings in the payroll office.

On December 20, 1942, she married Everett ‘Doc’ Eads.  From 1946 until they retired in 1980, she worked with Doc in their jewelry business.  During retirement, Cleo and Doc enjoyed traveling to various states.

Cleo enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, her flowers and big band music.

A memorial will be established in memory of Cleo.
