Garza
Raul Garza, 50 of Grand Island, died Friday, May 07, 2010 at St. Francis
Medical Center following a brief illness.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home. Cremation
will take place following the service with burial of ashes in the Grand
Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mr. Garza was born May 12, 1959 at Chicago, Illinois the son of Joel
and Esther (Cerda) Garza.
Survivors are his daughter, Kiley Garza of Kearney; his parents of
Villa Del Carmen, Mexico; sisters, Thelma Zafer of Naperville, Ill, Eva
Sanchez and Elisa Brizuela both of Chicago, Ill and his former spouse
Kerry Garza of Grand Island.
He was welcomed into heaven by an infant son, Mario Garza.
Raul was raised and received his education in Chicago and Monterrey,
Mexico. He was united in marriage to Kerry E. Gilliland on May
21, 1982. He has lived in Grand Island since 1981 where he worked
for Swift from 1981-2005, the Crisis Center for 12 years as a group facilitator
and also FedEx. He was a translator and volunteered for the Heartland
United Way Campaigns.
A memorial fund will be established in his name.
