Ursula "Pat" Klatt
Ursula ‘Pat’ Klatt, 94, of Grand Island, died Thursday,
March 4, 2010 at Tiffany Square Center.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand
Island. The Reverend William Pavuk will officiate. Burial will
be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mrs. Klatt was born May 14, 1915 at Wakefield, NE the daughter of Herman
and Meta (Utemark) Wriedt.
Survivors are a niece Wanda Barrett Larson of Grand Island that helped
care for her and nine other nieces and nephews, her brother-in-law’s
family from Hastings and special friends Darla and Merle Galvan of Grand
Island.
Her husband Stewart, parents, three brothers and two sisters welcomed
her into heaven.
Ursula attended elementary school at District 83 in Dixon County. She
graduated from Emerson High School in 1932 at Emerson, NE. Her
further education was completed at Wayne State College, University of
Kearney and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
She married Stewart Klatt on June 17, 1947 at St. Luke’s Lutheran
Church in Emerson. The couple resided at South Sioux City until
June 1949, at which time they moved to Grand Island.
Mrs. Klatt was a 40-year career teacher in the Nebraska Public Schools. Her
teaching years were in high schools at Hildreth and Dakota City where
she also served as principal. She was at Walnut Junior High School
for 27 years as a teacher of English and Journalism and advisor for the
school publication, the WALNUT CRACKER.
Mrs. Klatt was a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church at Emerson
where she received her lifetime membership in ELCA, St. Mark’s
in South Sioux City and St. Pauls in Grand Island.
Included among her memberships are teachers’ honorary, Delta
Kappa Gamma, National Association of Teachers, Nebraska Education Association,
and the local GIEA, in which she served on numerous committees. Ursula
had a great love for playing the organ.
In lieu of flowers, memorials
are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Ursula Klatt Scholarship
at Wayne State or donor’s choice.
