Carol
Ann Klingsporn
Carol Ann Klingsporn was born November 20, 1957. On March 6,
2010, Carol died peacefully at home, in her own bed, at the age of 52,
the Lord graciously answering her prayer.
Carol often talked of her death and eventually decided that since the
scripture “from dust thou art and unto dust thou shalt return” applied
to her as well, there was no point in making a job take longer than necessary,
and requested that her body be cremated.
Memorial service will be 11:00 Tuesday, March 9, at Grace Lutheran
Church. Reverend Daniel Bremer will officiate. All Faiths
Funeral Home is serving the family.
Carol was born in the Norfolk, NE hospital, the youngest child of Hubert
and Eileen (Roethemeyer) Klingsporn. Her family moved from the
small town of Pierce, NE to North Platte before she was a year old. Carol
graduated from North Platte High School, and spent her working career
with Sixth Street Food Stores. After the death of both parents, Carol
transferred to Grand Island to be near family.
Carol is survived by siblings Kenneth (Patricia) Klingsporn of Hershey,
Ne; Linda (Barney) Gatlin of Kemp, Texas; and Dorcas (Kent) Thaden of
Grand Island.
Carol was blessed with nieces and nephews: Kellie, Matthew, and Daniel
Klingsporn, Regan, Carrie, and Melinda Gatlin; and Brandon, Brooke, Brent,
Brian, and Brie Thaden. She dearly loved each and every one.
Carol loved people, loved to have fun and loved to volunteer at the
Vet’s Club. Carol was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American
Legion Women’s Auxiliary and the VFW Women’s Auxiliary.
When first diagnosed with her heart disability, she asked what she
could do. The answer was nothing physical and nothing stressful. The
Lord reminded her she could pray. She prayed faithfully and fervently
for her family and friends and thanked the Lord for his many blessings.
Carol prayed for her siblings and nephews and nieces. She studied family
pictures, looked at the atlas and maps, to get a feel for wherever her
family members were living.
As medications changed, she fussed over falling asleep before completing
her prayer list.
In Carol’s words, “I made it from Oregon to Germany and
back to Minnesota last night. I know was in Wyoming and I think I was
in Nebraska, but I know I didn’t make it to Texas, and that bothers
me. So tonight, I will start with Texas”.
Carol asked God, “Why me?” She prayed for a reason to get
up every morning. God answered that prayer with the gift of a loving
Siamese cat she named Oscar.
Many people know Carol loved to bake cookies. She loved baking cookies
because of the structure: mix the dough one day, bake the next. Make
every cookie exactly the same size and shape.
Carol requested that memorials be to Grace Lutheran Church, 545 East
Memorial Drive, Grand Island, Ne.
