Catherine M. McCarty, 82, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Tiffany Square Center.           

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.  The Reverend Todd Philipsen will officiate.  Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in the Dale Valley Cemetery near Merna, NE.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday with a parish rosary recited at 7 p.m. all at the church.

All Faiths Funeral Home is serving the family.

Mrs. McCarty was born May 15, 1927 at Loup City the daughter of Stanley and Martha (Shuda) Stenka.

Her husband Leonard R. McCarty, Sr. preceded her in death in 2001.

Survivors are daughter and son-in-law, Linda and John Pedrosa of Grand Island; sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Luz McCarty of Arlington, TX, Leonard, Jr. and Eunice McCarty of Grand Island, Dennis and Wendy McCarty of Grand Island, David and June McCarty of Arlington, NE and Francis “Butch” and Sandra Stenka of Ogallala, NE; sisters and brothers-in-law, Louise and Chester Harden of Alda and Virginia and Joe Fretto of Phoenix, Arizona.

Other survivors are 21 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.  She was welcomed into heaven by her husband; parents; grandson and great-grandson; sister, Agnes Grudzinski and foster-brother, Ben Kosmicki.

Catherine was raised and received her education in Loup City.  She was united in marriage to Leonard R. McCarty, Sr. on February 9, 1948 at Central City.  They made Grand Island their home.  She retired from Delicious Foods in 1980.

She was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, the parish choir, was a Eucharistic Minister and Perpetual Adoration.  She was also a member of both the auxiliary’s of the VFW and the Eagles.  She loved her rose and flower garden.  Catherine is at home with her husband of more than 50 years and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.    

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to either the church or the American Heart Association.
