George
Stark McCormick
George Stark McCormick, Jr., 63, of Grand Island died Sunday, September
26, 2010 at Saint Francis Medical Center.
At the family’s request, there will be no service. Cremation
has taken place.
There will be a gathering of family and friends to celebrate George’s
life, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
George was born on April 21, 1947 at North Platte, the son of George
Stark, Sr. and Julieanne (Ayoub) McCormick.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Judy Dian McCormick;
sons and daughters-in-law, Jason and Jennifer McCormick of Grand Island,
Colby and Brandi McCormick of Cortland and Landon and Emily McCormick
of Omaha; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Sharon and Roger Imes of LaCross,
WI and Cathi and Larry Haisch of Lincoln.
Those also left to cherish his memory are three grandchildren, Dalton,
Cameron and Kinsley; nieces; nephews and Bailey, his faithful companion.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
George grew up at Aurora and Grand Island, graduating from Northwest
High School, Class of 1965. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in
1966. During his tour of duty in Vietnam, George attained the rank
of Sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1968.
He was united in marriage to Judy Dian Middagh on April 11, 1969 in
Hastings. The couple lived their entire married life in the Grand
Island area. George was employed at the Grand Island Ordinance
Plant, Exec Air, and at New Holland, from which he retired in 2001.
George loved the outdoors, including hunting and fishing. Among
his hobbies, he enjoyed collecting guns and target shooting. He
also enjoyed the horse races and football.
A memorial fund will be established in George’s name.
