Don Morris
Larry Don Morris, 65, of Grand Island, died Saturday, May 29, 2010.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Evangelical Free Church. Reverend
Mike Neely will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Grand
Island Cemetery with military honors by the United Veterans Honor Guard
and Air Force Honor Guard.
There will be no visitation. All Faiths Funeral Home is serving
the family.
Mr. Morris was born April 25, 1945 at Commerce, TX the son of O.H.
and Frances ( Watts) Morris.
Survivors are his wife, Patty; daughter, Carrie Cabral of Grand Island;
son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Jenna Morris of Grand Island and sister
and brother-in-law, Brenda and Al Pineault of San Antonio, TX.
Other survivors are grandchildren, Ryan and Blake Cabral and Dylan
Morris; sister-in-law and her husband, Judy and Larry Wiegert of Grand
Island; brother-in-law, Ray Vang of Grand Island, brothers-in-law and
their spouses, Ken and Marge Vang of Denver, CO and Randy and Pam Vang
of Wichita, KS.
Larry was raised in Commerce, TX where he graduated from high school. He
received his bachelors’ degree from the University of Northern
Colorado. He proudly served in the United States Air Force for
24 years, retiring in 1989.
He and Patty Vang where married on July 31, 1967. Upon the time
of his retirement they where living in Spain and moved to Grand Island
in 1989. While in Grand Island, Larry worked for Wheelers, State
Steel, New Holland and retired from the US Postal Service. Most
recently he was working at Ken’s Auto.
Larry was a member of the VFW in Texas and the Grand Island Evangelical
Free Church. He enjoyed spending time on the family farm in Texas
and attended the Oakland Presbyterian Church there. He loved hunting,
fishing, and camping and Elvis music. He was a fan of Texas sports
including the Longhorns and Cowboys.
Memorials are suggested to either the Evangelical Free Church or Oakland
Presbyterian Church.
