Harriett A. Phillips, 87, of Grand Island, died Friday, August 06,
2010 at the Golden Living Center-Grand Island Lakeview.
Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Gollaher Chapel of Trinity
United Methodist Church. Reverend Melanie Adams will officiate. Burial
will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday at All Faiths Funeral Home.
Mrs. Phillips was born August 2, 1923 at Hastings, NE the daughter
of Vern and Jessie Irene (Woodworth) Osler.
Survivors are children, Patricia and Steve Painter of Orofino, Idaho,
Micheal Phillips of Grand Island, Kathryn and Vern Dvorak of Brainard,
NE, Sandra and Chuck Keown of Doniphan and Peggy Reeve of Crete, NE;
brother and a sister-in-law, Rodney and Lorraine Osler, sisters, Fern
Odell and Grace Nutter.
Those also left to cherish her memory are grandchildren, Jon, Geoff,
Tricia, Jamie, Bridget, Sabrina, Michelle, Paul, Amanda, Angela, Kendra,
Jennifer, John C., and Nathan, Nicholas and Benjamin and twenty-one great
She was preceded in death by grandson, Timothy Michael
grandson, Daniel Thomas; her parents; sisters, Dorothy Edmondson, Eleanor
Hall and Maxine Osler and brother Vernon Osler.
Harriett was raised in Kenesaw where she graduated from high school
in 1941. She moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming working at Untied Airlines
Modification Center during WWII.
She married Clifford Phillips in 1947. She moved to Hastings
in 1954 until making Grand Island her home in 1957. Harriett retired
from Equitable Savings and Loans after 23 years. Following her
retirement she worked at Stuhr Museum until she was 82 yrs old. Her
many enjoyments were spending time with her family, she also had a love
for her flowers, canning, bus tours and companionship of her dogs. She
appreciated all the love and attention she received by friends and family.
